My Process
Creating a great email that maximizes efficiency and minimizes errors is contingent on a strong and proven game plan that gets your campaign from your brain into their inbox.
Discover
-
Focus on the purpose and who the email campaign is geared towards.
-
Create user personas to visualize the personality and needs of the audience.
-
Brainstorm the goal, solutions, and action to guide the audience toward what they need to do next.
Design
-
Create an inverted pyramid hierarchy with the most important information and call-to-action at the top of the email.
-
Use clear and concise body copy with bold imagery to grab the attention of the audience and direct them to the desired action.
-
Match the feel and look of the brand and website/app for a consistent experience across all platforms.
Develop
-
Utilize email frameworks (MJML, Foundation for Emails) to expedite the development process.
-
Take a mobile-first approach in the coding process to ensure an optimal experience on all screen sizes.
-
Prioritize accessibility by including alt attributes to images, proper contrast, semantic and language tags.
Deploy
-
Follow a pre-send checklist to catch errors beforehand (copy errors, broken links, subject line errors, preheader text check, spam filter test).
-
Test email in multiple email clients for any rendering issues (especially Outlook!)

About
I’m a self-taught HTML Email Developer from the Texas Panhandle looking to get you tangible results for your email campaigns.
I pride myself in being a valuable asset to the teams I’m included on by being resourceful, empathetic, and working diligently to deliver a successful product. I am constantly in pursuit of gaining new knowledge to level up my skills and I dedicate a portion of my time everyday to learning. Whether it be learning the best way to optimize workflow, cool hacks for interactivity, navigating email client updates, or familiarizing myself with a new email service provider, it’s an integral part of being the best developer I can be.
When I don’t have my face glued to a computer screen coding multiple nested tables, I enjoy lifting weights before sunrise, tinkering around in Ableton Live, editing video, and most importantly, the satisfying first sip of an ice-cold Topo Chico mineral water.
